Sunday and Monday this week
SUNDAY 14th
Sunday hadn't gotten any easier. As usual I got early to hose out the lint built up in the dryer condenser before the usual meet up with my dad for a car boot sale (for US readers, it's a flea market where people trade unwanted items from the trunk of their car), followed by dog walking and chat with my mum.
However I made the error of once again waking my wife up who started repeating on and on how she was too sick and lacked proper sleep. This may seem innocuous to most but in the past she has used this tactic to get me to cancel my existing plans and sit around for her bidding.
The washing has built up over the week while she cleaned some dresses she hasn't worn in years. My wife doesn't like line drying and will use the dryer on a good day if I don't intercept the washing, and I had explained to her the evening before the dryer was overdue for deep clean.
As I tried to ignore her and carry on the intensity built up until regrettably I snapped after my concessions of making sure I'm back to do one laundry load myself on the line were ignored.
She fired back with ferocity claiming she was merely expressing emotion, and accused me of shutting her down. I told her that she has far more freedom to express herself than I do, as she often uses what I've related mockingly or dismissively, and why I don't show these frustrations now, meanwhile whatever advice I give is often dismissed or further induces a tantrum from her. She often complains about her health as she does now but refuses to see a doctor, and I have nothing further to offer, and the only ablation to this is when I fawn over her.
I finished with telling her I'm going.to see my dad, and mum and will be back to put one load of washing on, she should sit and recover if she is not up to it.
I left to pressure wash the dryer core and left it to dry outside, and rather than go back in walked to meet my dad halfway.
By the time I'd seen my parents, helped install new lights in their bathroom, had dinner with mum and dad I returned home with groceries. She had done the washing and hung laundry. No further things were said.
MONDAY 15th
Monday I had booked the day off as my wife’s optician had sent her for a hospital appointment to check the retina and eye pressure.
The morning went without incident, and while I had dropped her off to find. She had stopped by a charity stall in the reception area, and she had bought me a silk scarf. It wasn't really my style but I was more wondering why she had done so.
It's clear I am no longer looking at her interactions without wondering why and what her motive is. The sweetness just messes me up emotionally further.
